New public outdoor chess corner on Rotbuchenstraße in Munich-Harlaching, about ten minutes on foot from U1 Mangfallplatz. Set up by Münchener Schachclub 1836 and festively opened on 27 June 2026, with grandmaster Gawain Jones among the guests.
Gariahat Chess Club

An open-air public chess spot under the Gariahat flyover with 13 laminated chessboard tables and 26 stools, drawing players from street vendors to retirees since it grew out of informal evening gatherings in the 1980s. A nominal Rs 10 contribution makes you a member; it was formally recognised by Kolkata Police in 2018.

Around fifty chess tables line the central path of Gogolevsky Boulevard as part of the annual 'Chess Boulevard' festival (confirmed still running as of 2026); anyone can sit down and play with their own set at any time, and free equipment rental is offered on weekdays 10:00-20:00 and weekends 14:00-18:00 from the nearby Russian Chess Federation building.
Minhocão giant street chess boards

The Minhocão (Elevado Presidente João Goulart), an elevated roadway that closes to car traffic and becomes a free public leisure space, has four free giant chess boards (3-metre boards) spread along its length, with monitors on hand at times to help people learn.

Life-size public chessboard on Frederiksplein, officially opened on 1 March 2026 after the famous board stood near Max Euweplein from 1996 to 2023. A neighbourhood initiative funded through Centrum Begroot, initially as a one-year trial.
